To ensure we can provide exceptional service to all those who visit The CCD, we are currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join our Operations team at The Convention Centre Dublin in a fulltime permanent basis.

Person Specification

  • Specialist Expertise: Relevant health and safety qualification

  • Experience: A minimum of five years’ experience in a health and safety management role, ideally within events or complex operational environments

  • Legislative Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of current health and safety legislation and best practices

  • Safety Leadership: Proven ability to lead health and safety programmes across multiple stakeholder groups

  • Problem Solving & Communication: Strong problem-solving, influencing, and negotiation skills

  • Quality Management: Demonstrable experience in managing ISO accreditation processes

  • Organisational Skills: Highly effective organisational and project management abilities

Job requirements

Key Objective

The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing robust health and safety strategies that support a safe working environment for all stakeholders. This role ensures compliance with legal requirements and best practices, while also managing the accreditation, auditing, and continuous improvement of The CCD’s ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 20121 certifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a proactive organisation-wide health and safety programme that complies with legal obligations and project agreements. Develop, maintain, and update Health & Safety policies, procedures, and the Health & Safety Management Plan for all stakeholders.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments, implement safety protocols, and manage comprehensive Emergency Evacuation Procedures.

  • Oversee health and safety training for staff, contractors, and stakeholders, and organise regular Health & Safety meetings.

  • Foster a positive safety culture across all departments and events and prepare necessary documentation for events and contractor activities.

  • Lead the management and continuous development of ISO accreditations (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 20121).

  • Collaborate with the Head of Events and Head of Technical Production to ensure safe execution of event activities.

  • Monitor health and safety performance against KPIs, manage incident reporting and investigations, and oversee the occupational health programme and H&S budget.

  • Contribute to environmental and sustainability initiatives within the organisation and carry out additional duties as assigned by the Director of Event Operations.

Duties and responsibilities will vary from time to time and the post holder will be expected to perform other such duties that are reasonably comparable; adhere to Company health, safety and environmental policies; maintain a safe working environment and ensure your work activities are safe.
